Samuel McCaw Dies At Truesdale Hospital
Bristol grocer Samuel McCaw died Wednesday morning at Truesdale Hospital Fall River after weeks of illness He was 74 75 next birthday He was Bristol s oldest active grocer Born July 23 1858 in Bristol He wrote a history in local business before opening a Bristol store Feb 11 1886 He is survived by his wife four sons one daughter five grandchildren three brothers two sisters and several nieces and nephews Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 o clock at his High Street home with burial in North Cemetery

Duffy Celebrated by Post Office Staff on 30th Service Anniversary
Fellow employees of Charles C Duffy at the local Post Office honored him at his Hope Street home for 30 years of service in the money order registry and postal savings division. Postmaster Wi M Connery presented a lounge chair. Vernon A Gray and James P Fay Lawrence P Davis provided song and dance entertainment. Duffy, a native, began May 1 1903 at age 19 as a substitute mail carrier and was soon named a clerk. His brother Wm J Duffy Jr is assistant postmaster in Providence.

Lewis Pleads Not Guilty to Stealing Automobile
John Lewis a Newark resident was captured after a wild Sunday night chase and tried in Newport on a charge of taking an auto without the owner's consent He pleaded not guilty and was held on 1000 bail on a second count for operating without a license He later pleaded guilty and received ten days in the Newport County Jail The case traces to Abel Smith of Vicksburg Avenue whose car was taken while Lewis headed toward Savannah Ga after crossing the Mt Hope bridge with two cents on him
