Sword Gift Honors Bristol Company Drill Master
After the marching movements the inspection of arms by Adjutant General Sackett was followed by a well executed manual of arms and guard mount under Lieut. Gray and culminated with the lowering of the colors. Ensign Cheesman presented a sword to Adjutant General Sackett for Lieut. Gladding, a token of esteem from the men for his years of effort to lift the Bristol company to high standards. Sackett praised Gladding as a top drill master and predicted continued success. Gladding accepted the gift with thanks, amid applause. The sword features a gold hilt and gold mounted scabbard bearing his name. Naval Reserves inspected in new uniforms in Bristol
The Bristol Naval Reserves held their annual inspection in the Armory Friday evening before a full gallery. Forty two men and three officers participated under Adjt. Gen. Sackett with Commander Gardner O. Sims in attendance. Lieut. E. P. Gladding led marching drills to applause and praise from visiting officials. John Howland Pitman, nearing ninety, celebrated his birthday though recently ill after a long life of health and activity.

Jod Jones Visits Bristol Club Trophies Exhibition
