The YMCA will be closed until 1 p m tomorrow as a mark of respect for the late Rudy Cabral. Albert F Means, the general secretary, announced the closure and funeral services for Cabral, an all around athlete and local Y member, will be held tomorrow.
A new potential candidate for Bristol Rhode Island Republican Town Committee chair is Raymond DeLeo a Navy veteran and former Young Republicans leader. He joins Orlando J. Bisbane who was reported as a candidate, with both saying they would consider the post as the party seeks younger leadership for the November elections. The committee plans to hear a nominating group report this Wednesday on a successor to Frank Sylvia.
Appeal urges donation to American Red Cross for disaster relief. Instructions direct readers to mail checks to Mrs. Clara L. Diman, executive secretary, Post Office Building, Bristol, with emphasis on helping those affected and those made homeless.
The Bristol Branch American Red Cross lists donors from Industrial Trust Co to Archie Hawks with gifts ranging from five to fifty five dollars. The Oklahoma National Guard left the U.S. in 1961 and trained in Hokkaido before Korea deployment in December.
The Bristol Senior High School sent three seniors to the Afth Rhode Island Model Legislature held last Saturday in the State House. Andrew Francis served on the Senate finance committee while Joseph DuPont and August Arruda acted as representatives. Arruda is the senior class president.
