Bristol lawmakers push license fee cuts for shellfishermen

Bristol County residents back legislation in the General Assembly to cut shellfishing license fees from 25 to 1 per person and per boat. Rep George Lima and Sen Gladys M Brightman introduced the bill amid about 300 signatures. The measure and related Bristol actions include a rent free use request for the Fourth of July Committee’s armory event and a pension proposal for a longtime Colt Memorial High custodian, Alphonse Rebello, at up to 835 annually. Mount Hope Bridge area resurfacing for Bristol Ferry Lane also seeks inclusion in the 1958-59 program with Sen Brightman backing. Noon Holy Week services sponsored by St Michael's and First Congregational Churches will feature Rev Granville G Bennett as preacher.
