Final Days Of Textiles Foreseen In Bristol
The Bristol Worsted Co plans to cease operations within a month due to poor market conditions and a recession. The plant near Bradford Street on the Thames currently employs about 30 of its former 300 workers while Cob er Industries still runs a spinning mill in Barrington. The closure follows the lease takeover of Plant J from Collins and Aikman Corp last year and signals the end of a long industrial presence in the area.
