Cleanup Week Planned by Joint Chamber Committee

A townwide Cleanup Week from April 28 to May 4 was organized by a joint committee sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. It follows a Tuesday night public meeting at the Y M C A led by Mrs. Ella O Millard, with town officials endorsing the effort to coincide with National Cleanup Week. The group urged reducing carni val use of Town Common, updating litter laws, and educating Bristol pupils on property upkeep, inviting civic and service groups to join the campaign.

Town Mig Shadow Hangs Over Council As Budgets Come In

Town council last night heard five budget requests for the 1957 58 fiscal year along with zoning and financial items. An ordinance establishing the pay plan was adopted and J Francisco Connell will leave the zoning board March 31 with Manuel Sylvia named as successor. The police chief requested painting yellow curb strips on lower High Street as part of a broader safety measure.

Funds urged for Bristol State St Wharf boat stops

Harbor Commission outlined a 10000 plan to upgrade the town owned State St Wharf to serve the Providence to Block Island excursion steamer, including pilings dolphins a ramp and a weather pavilion. The state would fund a boat ramp via federal aid under the Dingle Johnson Act with a 10 year lease for the end result.
