Portrait of Bristol Governor Proposed for State Portraits
Senator Ezra Dixon introduced a Senate resolution to appropriate $600 for an oil portrait of former Governor Francis Moore Dimond to hang in the State House beside other governors. Dimond, born in Bristol June 8 1796, served as U S Consul in Vera Cruz, aided during the Mexican War, was Bristol’s Lt Governor in 1853 4 and later led a railroad venture with the Southern Pacific.
