The Bristol Troops Boy Scouts announce a 7 pm Scout Hall meeting with reports on membership and bylaws ahead of the Jamboree. The Green Bar Troop 1 meets at 4 pm to finalize the year program while Merit Badge work occurs for Troop 2 on Wednesday. Patrol Stags lead an inter patrol contest. patrol numerals will be awarded to winners.
Bristol’s newly organized Columban Squires Circle will receive Holy Communion after the 8 o clock mass at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. In the afternoon the Circle will travel to Providence to oversee ceremonies for a Columban Squires unit by Hope Council Knights of Columbus. An East Providence Circle forms April 1 and Bristol Squires will officiate. Ping pong and checker tournament planned soon.
The Rhode Island State College honor roll for the first semester includes Jose C Victoria of this town. The 173 names represent about 16 percent of the student body, with seniors most represented and freshmen at about 10 percent. Victoria is a civil engineer graduate from Colt Memorial High School and lives at 6 Doran Avenue.
Monday Tuesday March 22 23 feature a fast paced revolt romance set in Dublin during Faster Week Rebellion. The production stars Ana O Connor Preston and actors from the Abbey Theatre in Ireland with blood and passion driving the story.
The school committee failed to choose a janitor at its organization meeting prompting a sub committee recommendation. Eleven applicants were narrowed to four then five, with none receiving a majority. John Levere received the only seconded nomination, while other candidates included Thomas Lonergan Manuel Fernandes and Charles Romano. Prescott Hear temporarily fills the post as the board reviews health related resignations and remaining candidates await word on the recommendation.
Pupils from Guiteras Junior High presented an Easter program this afternoon in the Putnam auditorium. The afternoon featured a school orchestra, choral groups, recitations, songs, and a salute to the plays with the Star Spangled Banner sung by the audience. The program listed many student performers and ended with awards for attendance, a piano accompaniment, and curtain announcements.
