Man injured as auto strikes pole on Metacom Avenue

Tons Travers 18 of 59 Mount Hope Avenue suffered a cut to the left leg when the car he rode in swerved off the highway and struck a pole on Metacom Avenue. Albert Guevremont 2 of 245 Thames Street faces a reckless driving charge and will appear in the Fifth District Court Monday morning. Other car occupants Salvatore Ntate 22 Ralph Caizzi 19 and Nick Dilello 22 escaped injury.

Heirlooms Topic at Bristol Historical Society Meeting

Bristol Historical Society met in the Masonic building on Hope Street for a discussion of family heirlooms. Bristol Police Receive Two Dollar Raise After Safe Year

The Bristol Town Council approved a $2 weekly pay increase for all seven police officers as thanks for an exemplary year. Police Chief Anthony J. Ferrara received a commendation letter from the National Safety Council. The raise, announced after a brief executive session, comes with an austerity plan that blocks new cruiser purchases this year. Weekly salaries include Chief Ferrara at $42, and officers at $31 to $30.

Rockwell Reappointed School Board Chairman for Ninth Year

Charles B Rockwell Jr reelected unanimously as chairman of the school committee for a ninth consecutive year at the organization meeting.
