Very Rev Msgr Charles H Lynch of St Marys Church voiced the churchs willingness to cooperate or purchase if the town declines occupancy. Superintendent Edward Fitzgerald warned overcrowding would not be solved by minor expansion and urged funding for outlying schools. A temporary bus access issue near Rayside Shores was noted as a separate transport problem for Bristol Highlands pupils. Communications about a proposed high school site, new highway, and plans were also reviewed.

Coast Guard Cutter Spar Returns From Nantucket Cruise
The Coast Guard Cutter Spar arrived back in town early yesterday after a two day trip to the Nantucket light ship and Buzzards Bay buoy detail. Lt Norman P. Ensrud said conditions were favorable at the lightship and refueling proceeded well. The Spar departed later for local buoy work and refueling at Melville.

Geo Henderson to Retire From Highway Dept
George H Henderson, longtime chief of Rhode Island roads and bridges, will retire March 31 after a 50 year career in state highway work. Born in Bristol and turning 75, he helped shape state infrastructure since 1909 with Brown University training and service across Park Commission and Public Roads before leading as chief engineer 1924 to 1935.

Sansone elected to Bristol School Committee
Joseph Sansone was chosen to fill the Bristol School Committee seat left by the late Thomas Balzano in a brief Town Hall session. The 42 year old funeral director, father of three, was nominated by Domenic Canna with no opposition. David Ferris abstained. Sansone has long community involvement, including Mt Carmel Church, scouting, and several local organizations. his son Peter recently placed in National Merit finals. He is a Bristol native and Colt High graduate.
