Wreck to be Held by 40 and 8 at GAR Hall

Society Continues Clothing Drive for Poor Children

The Pro Christo Society of the Congregational Church remains active in repairing and making new clothing for town children in need. Italian Residents Support Bristol Improvement Efforts

Several hundred Italian residents attended an open meeting of the Principesca Elena Lodge of the Order Sons of Italy in Bristol. John Romano urged support for two resolutions at Monday's town meeting, promoting Bristol as an industrial and residential community and offering ten year tax exemptions to new industries. Speakers included John Carmone Domeniec Proto Antonio Guida Joseph Fusco and Gabriel Accardi who pledged services to a community owned rubber factor.

Financial Town Meeting Set for Monday at 7 30

The annual financial town meeting of Bradford street voters will be held Monday at 7 30 in the Town Hall Pastime Theatre. Budget Commission recommendations total 316 442 01, compared with the Town Council wishes and past year spending. Bristol Improvement Association plans two resolutions urging industrial and residential development and a ten year tax exemption for new industries.

Colt Memorial Highs Triumph Over Burrillville 44 to 23

Colt Memorial High School defeated Burrillville High 44 to 23 on the Big Cedar Inn court in Pascoe. Mike DeLeo led Bristol scoring with Weenie Rugegireo close behind as Colt opened 27 8 at half and held Burrillville to a single fourth period point.

Taft School Club Elects Officers For Coming Year

Officers for the ensuing year were elected at the Taft School Club annual meeting on Hope street. President Mrs Claude Hazeldine, Vice President Mrs Farr Hobson, Secretary Mrs Rowell S Bosworth, Treasurer Miss Anne Tobin. State Welfare Head Speaks On Care of Criminals

Dr. Frederick Farnell, chairman of the State Welfare Commission, addressed the Rotary Club about reforms in handling offenders. He described a new state reformatory for men, emphasizing disciplined training, work, and instruction to rehabilitate youths and reduce recidivism.

Bristol Improvement Association Urges Industry Drive

R S Bosworth of the Bristol Chamber of Commerce urged sincere efforts to attract new industries, proposing an industrial survey as a selling talk to managers. He said within one or two years of concerted effort Bristol should either attract new industry or prove its diligence. The meeting at Eagles Hall heard support from John Magee and others, with reports showing full backing of the new association.

Council Sits as Board of Canvassers

The Town Council acting as a Board of Canvassers approved the list of property owners eligible to vote at the annual financial town meeting scheduled for Monday. The council received and ordered the annual report to be submitted. Polley Elliott and Watrous Company, overseeing pier construction at the old ferry slip, was granted permission to deliver a carload of lumber to the Constitution Street depot, subject to NYNH&H Railroad Co. consent.

Rev R L Spoerri to Preach at Congregational Church

Reverend R L Spoerri, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Warren, will preach at the First Congregational Church during the 10 30 morning service on Sunday. New Industries Committee Adopts Definite Bristol Program

The New Industries Committee in Bristol Rhode Island adopts a concrete plan to develop the town as an industrial and residential community. The program includes data on assets, available industrial sites, publicity, funding, tax exemptions for new industries, and a residential development plan with sidewalks and utilities, plus formation of a Realty Finance Corporation. Subcommittees will report findings at the March 22 meeting.
