Budget Hearings Set for Town Departments Schedule
Budget group lists hearings with town department heads and the budget committee. Police budget reviewed March 16 at 7 30 p m and fire budget at 8 30 p m same night. Additional sessions March 19 public aid 7 39 p m highway department 8 30 p m March 21 sewer department and March 23 school department. A special town council meeting is planned March 14 to discuss a proposed new pay schedule for officers and employees.

DeStefano highway plan faces opposition in Senate
Proposal to cut travel time from Barrington and Bristol to Providence by eight and twelve minutes, via a 15 mile roadbed at about 75 mph, would threaten residential and commercial property. State Sen Anthony DaPonte says he is definitely opposed and will urge the Senate committee to block the measure.
