Bristol Trail of Artillery concert at Guiteras Memorial High

Bristol music lovers will attend a joint Bristol Trail of Artillery and Daughters of the American Revolution concert at the Guiteras Memorial Junior High auditorium. The 37 member Glee Club and 31 piece band will perform Sousa, Carmen, Strauss, and Gilbert and Sullivan pieces with xylo­phone solos and a brass sextette.

Laymen Drive Boosts Attendance at Protestant Churches

Attendance rose across local Protestant churches on Sunday as a five week Laymen's Drive concluded. A union service at the Congregational Church drew large crowds, and Rev Earl H. Tomlin preached at Calvary Baptist on The Need For Renewing. The choir, with 40 voices, featured members from area churches and was led by Rev Herbert D Graetz.

New England Flower Show Opens in Boston Mechanics Hall

The New England's Sixty Seventh Annual Spring Flower Show opens at Mechanics Hall in Boston on the 17th and runs through the 23rd. Manager Arnon Nehrling says the exhibit will surprise visitors with the house and garden of tomorrow, featuring a glass bay window and modern garden elements, including roof garden and illuminated fountain.

Warrant Shows Town Holds Line on Expenses at Finance Meeting

Budget committee plans tight economy for town meeting next Monday night. Finance board has reviewed total requests of about $345,902.35, with taxpayers asked to appropriate $3,694.10 less than the initial ask. Highway department cut from 26,652.85 to 14,740, still higher than last year. Unemployment relief 10,000, welfare director 6,874, hospitalization 3,052.99, and dependent children 3,600. School budget trimmed from 129,000 to 126,550. police from 19,057 to 15,500 with a 2,000 increase over last year plus 500 for police reserve. Providence speaker to address Bristol PTA on safety

H. K. Bennett of Providence will be the principal speaker at the Bristol Parent-Teacher Association meeting Thursday night at Reynolds School to discuss safety. An executive board meeting precedes the session, announced PTA president Mrs. Bucler Capone.

Water Company Annual Meeting Names New Director

A. L. Rae of New York was named to the Bristol County Water Works Board at the annual stockholders meeting held yesterday in the Bristol office. He succeeds Reeves J. Newsom who resigned. Re-elected to the board were G. W. Biggs Jr., W. D. Freer, S. B. Bargh and M. B. Rogers, all of New York City. Town officials owning 1500 shares attended the meeting, Prescott B. Paull as Town Council President and William H. Angevine as Town Treasurer. The Bristol County division was represented by G. Guy Morrow, superintendent.
