Snow Storms Cost City $20 000 Says Public Works Chief

Public works director Frank Muzerall puts estimated cost of the February 24 and March 2 snow storms at $20,000. He notes the Feb. 24 storm was the worst in years and taxed all town equipment, with many private sources unavailable. Equipment failures and heavy ice caused outages and extensive repairs, while bulldozers and front-end loaders cleared 5 to 10 foot snowbanks in open roads. The crew worked around the clock, with brief rests until February 28 and again March 2.
