My sons life told by his mother in era verse
The poem, attributed to Miss Alice B Almy, reflects a mother's view of George Washington. It recounts birthplace at Bridges Creek Virginia on February 22, 1732, childhood in Fredericksburg, and the death of his father. It disputes Weems mythmaking about the cherry tree and touches on his courtships, marriage to Martha Curtis, and enduring fame as a mother’s loyal son.
