The Town of Bristol will keep taxing the Knights of Columbus Building Inc. on State street until a court decision alters policy. Chairman Daniel G Coggeshall cited legal advice to defer action after a conference with K of C counsel and Bristol Council representatives.

Couple Club Hosts Sunday Evening Lecture Series

The Couple Club of St Michael's Church announces a Sunday evening lecture series from March 9 through June at 8 30 in Holmes House. Speakers include Dr Anthony Bosch Brown University on Naziism, Coach Warren Huston on sports films and playground facilities, and Donald Donovan RI Arts Project on government patronage of art with local Rhode Island material.

Feast of Esther and Purim Observances Planned

Arrangements by Chevra Agudas Achim Synagogue for the Feast of Esther and Purim are nearing completion. Services set for Wednesday evening March 12 at 7 and Thursday morning March 13 at 6 30 in the High Street synagogue. A regular congregational meeting is planned for Sunday at 9, with services at 8 tonight.

Card Party Success At Thames Street Club

A lively card party drew guests to the Thames street Girls' Club Rooms on Wednesday night. It was the second in the monthly series with prizes awarded to Mary Paull Elizabeth Fowler Evelyn Carter and others. The committee led by Constance Campanello organized the event with Madeline Cortellessa Margaret Jordan Antonetta Grimo and Dorothy St Angelo assisting.

Burial Ground Group Authorized To Invest Funds

The North Burial Ground Commission was authorized by the Town Council to invest 1500 in bonds, to be divided equally. In related items, Joseph Cabrals claim for damages from an accident was referred for investigation, and Town officials reported rainstorm washouts, gravel repairs, wood saving, street patching, and fuel purchases. The board also canvassed voting lists ahead of the upcoming biennial town election.

Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church Altar Society met Tuesday at the parish hall on Congregational Street. After the business session a Truth or Consequence program was held and refreshments served. Strikers of the Parrigon Toys received their first union pay as the 14 day strike continued. Fall River Amalgamated Clothing Workers official Thomas Flavell announced a new contract clause to cap fare costs at 10 cents to Bristol Permanent Location, securing factory location and jobs.
