American Legion Posts Hold Semi Monthly Meetings

Kearney Post No 6 of the American Legion and its Auxiliary held semi monthly meetings in Olympia Theatre building. A membership drive committee was appointed led by James T. Pierce with a 7:30 pm meeting to organize. Social and entertainment committees were formed, and a telegram of support was sent to Congressman Burdick on the Naval Bill. The Auxiliary planned a Wallum Lake visit and later hosted the Post with refreshments.

Chowder Dinner Planned by State Street M E Church Ladies

Members of the Ladies Aid Society of the State Street M E Church have organized a chowder dinner to be served in the church vestry from noon to 2 PM tomorrow. The chowder will be prepared by Mrs Fred G Blasdell Mrs John H Potter and Mrs Abbie Munro, with Mrs Rachel Simmons as chairman and committee members Mrs Archibald M Miller Mrs George A Richardson and Mrs William H Re meres serving ex officio.

Fifth District Court ends non-support case with costs

In a morning session Judge Frank H Hammill discontinued the non-support case Joan Hudson of Providence versus Albert Hudson of this town after mutual agreement to pay costs. Pending divorce proceedings require the husband to pay $10 weekly alimony. Chamberlin Metal Strip Company of Providence versus Harveys S Jewell of this town filed a civil claim for $259.28 and was allowed. Joaquim Ramos versus Candido Botelho proceeded to a jury trial on a book account and was claimed and allowed.

Milk Inspector Reports Towns Milk Quality Improvement

John Hugh Magee reports 324 inspections of barns and milk houses last year with many producers adopting new filtration and cooling equipment. He took 155 chemical and 53 bacterial samples, finding excellent milk quality and 48 licenses issued amid federally inspected herds and tuberculin testing. Daily town output reached 4000 quarts in 1927, with 1000 shipped to Providence.

Hotel Belvedere Fire Leaves Sun Parlor a Total Loss

Fire at the Hotel Belvedere damaged the sun parlor, four stories up, with total losses estimated at 35000 dollars. Fifth Annual Italian American Art Exhibition Planned

Miss Leomitda Poo Sansone announces the fifth annual Italian American art show at the New York Public Library 74 Past Street in April. Contributions by Onis Trahans and Ttahan descendants will be welcomed. Bronze medals will honor best sculpture design architectural drawing and schoolwork. Entries due March 24 with acceptance on Mondays and Tuesdays until 5 PM and Saturdays until 6 PM. Sansone, a former Colt Memorial High School and Brown University graduate, now assistant at the New York Public Library, plans to pursue further studies in Italy.
