Shotover and Siward at a social house party
Sylvia Landis and Stephen Siward attend Shotover a country house visit with the Ferralls. Siward is under social disapproval and struggles with drink while Sylvia contemplates two suitors Howard Quarrier and herself. The club politics and rivalries simmer as Siward battles his vice and a sharp social circle watches.
