Bristol Fourth of July Committee met at the county court house. Chief Marshal R F Haffenreffer Jr donated a trophy for the water battle winner and prizes of 50 and 25 dollars for first and second. A 2:30 Friday ball game was set between Bristol Town Team and sailors from the U S S Cincinnati. Daniel E Dwyer will supervise the bonfire, and Lockanosset School boys band will be hired for the event. Bold dress for the committee was approved.

Western Union offices in Bristol will begin selling American Express Express money orders on Wednesday to meet demand for non telegraph money orders. Miss Weaver, local manager, announced the rollout across main and branch offices nationwide. The service complements existing telegraphic money and gift orders, which handle large yearly transfers.

Battery C Officers Take Air Ride Over Hartford
Captain A A Moren and Lieut F F McMillan of Battery C with 15 fellow officers of the 243rd CA (H D) joined an air observation exercise during the Fort H G Wright encampment in Hartford Connecticut. Pilots from Kelley Field Texas flew Douglas planes at over 200 mph for a 500 foot zooming figure eight experience increasing morale and showcasing ground radio devices. Adjutant General Ladd of Connecticut arranged support from state planes aiding anti aircraft and harbor defense practice.

Bristol Board of Recreation announces a general supervisor and four instructors for the summer playgrounds and bath house. George R Fish is re elected general supervisor. Fifth District Court Hears Juvenile Theft Adjudication
Anthony Wracta alias Tony Mara bello, 16, of 11 Coggeshall Ave was adjudged probably guilty of stealing a car owned by Owen Kearns. He was held on $5000 bail or committed to Bristol County Jail until grand jury action. Manuel Jardine pled guilty to driving with defective brakes and paid $10 plus costs. He drove a truck in an Bay View Ave accident that injured Mrs Isabel Morris. Mary Coite vs Manuel Coite on non support was continued two weeks. Joseph Cooke pleaded not guilty to extortion and impersonating an officer and was held without bail for trial next Monday with bail set at $600.

Local Man Injured By Auto After Jamestown Ball Game
William Burke Sr. age 55 of 282 Thames Street was severely injured returning from a ball game in Jamestown where the Kearney Post Junior team of Bristol played. He stood on a parked car when a Jamestown youth driving a small roadster struck the car, flinging Burke between the vehicles. He received first aid at Jamestown Sanitarium and was transported home by Colt Memorial Ambulance. Dr. A F DAngelo found a deep eight by three inch cut on the left thigh a lacerated left ankle and a large chest wound.
