Quake Hits Bristol in 1755 Ignored by Local Watch

Bristol residents learned of a 1755 earthquake during a Bristol Historical Society exhibit at St Michael's Parish house. A 16 pound cannonball from a 1775 bombardment was found near Mt Hope Bridge and is now owned by Mrs. Sarah C. Munro. The display featured antique items, shawls, and documents damaged by a 1938 hurricane ink remained legible.

Firemen Division Site Change For South Church Street

The fire chief and committee select the south side of Church Street west of High as the tent firemen's division formation site. The committee approved the change and will meet at 8 15 pm Thursday at the YMCA before the celebration. Last Friday the group reviewed events and completed last minute details.

Cardinal Tryouts Set For July at Bristol Field

The St Louis Cardinals sponsor a three day tryout camp at Guiteras Field Bristol on July 1 2 and 3. George H Sisler Jr head of the Cardinal scouting system says qualified players can pursue organized baseball careers through the camp which runs Thursday Friday and Saturday.
