Fire Chief to Lead Bristol 4th of July Parade
For the first time in years Senator Coggeshall will not head the Firemen's Division. Fire Chief Moses Moore takes the lead with Brig Gen Hall and Lt Wall heading other divisions. Navy group led by Rev Parshley, State Guard by Albert Earle, Civil Air Patrol by Frank Sylvia, and other marshals include Col Hambrick and Mrs Sidney Herreshoff. Field meet and events run 3 to 6 pm on the Common featuring races, a softball game, a doll carriage parade, and a baseball game.

Beach committee backs crescent plan with twin bulkheads
Bristol Beach Committee met to review district engineer recommendations for twin steel plank bulkheads 200 feet north and 150 feet south and a crescent shaped beach. About 12 000 cubic feet of fill would create a 125 foot deep area from the wall to the water, topped with sand. Diving boards at the south end would replace a float, expanding swim space. Total cost estimated 25 to 40 thousand dollars pending Marine Construction Engineers.

Staff Sgt. Joseph B. Borges of the 328th Bomb Lqd arrives on the Queen Mary and will stay 31 days before reporting to the Air Force Reception Center.
