New Herreshoff Memorial Races Set for July
Preparations are underway for the Nathanael Greene Herreshoff Memorial Cup races for 12 1-2 foot knockabouts to be held July 12 to 14 in Bristol harbor. The perpetual trophy honors Rhode Island naval designer and will be competed for by junior crews as representatives of their yacht clubs. The winner keeps the cup until July 1 next year before returning it to Bristol Yacht Club.

An open-air Independence Day religious service will be held in the Locke Close by St Michael's Church on Sunday afternoon July 2 at 6:30 pm. Playgrounds Reopen with WPA Supervision and Classes
After yesterday’s rain Bristol resumes playgrounds under WPA supervision. Competent instructors will run open-air metalcraft and wood carving and recreational classes at Bristol Common from 9 30 to 12 00 and 6 30 to 9 30 pm. Autopsy Finds Bradford Death Accidental After Cottage Fire
State toxicologists concluded Bradford died in an accidental fire. The recluse, a former butcher, lived alone in a three room cottage near the Kirkemuit river which burned Saturday night. Police and fire units investigated, noting no foul play and that a coffee stove may have sparked the blaze. Surviving animals included 300 chickens and a Great Dane.
