Battery C Missing From Fourth of July Parade After 12 Years

Battery C 243rd Coast Artillery will miss Independence Day ceremonies as it departs for a 15 day encampment at Fort H. G. Wright New York. Captain Albert A. Moren leads 56 men and three officers sailing from Providence for New London with stops at East Greenwich and Westerly to join Battery I and Battery E. The Bristol unit includes veterans Manuel Morris and Joseph Ruggiero and a roster of 56 personnel awaiting training, drills, and a visitors day July 4 with army maneuvers and sports.

Bristol’s Annie J. Gray, long-time resident, dies at 90

One of Bristol's oldest residents, Annie J. Gray, died this morning at her son Clarence Booth's home on Chestnut Street after a long illness. She was 90s, born August 10, 1844 in Scotland, widow of Simeon J. Gray, survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral at Wilbur Memorial Chapel Warren Sunday afternoon with Rev Herbert D Graetz officiating. Burial in North Cemetery.

Margaret Andrade appointed investigator in Public Welfare

Mrs Margaret Andrade yesterday received appointment as an investigator in the Department of Public Welfare Old Age Security Division. She will take over her post Monday morning. She plans to design her position as local Director of Mothers Aid. She also serves on the Bristol School Committee and the Democratic Town Committee.

Dwyer Memorial Fourth of July Fund Honor Roll

Honor roll lists numerous Bristol contributors to the Dwyer Memorial Fourth of July Fund with amounts from 1 to 100 dollars. Totals show $202.17 raised to date with entries from individuals, clubs, and local organizations including Bristol Town Council and Bristol Post Office employees.

Benefit Bridge Committee Final Report and Donation

The Benefit Bridge Committee reports $105.80 added to the Dwyer Memorial Fourth of July Fund from a Bristol community bridge event held at the State Armory. The June 27 1935 event sold 98 tables and attracted numerous subscribers and donors led by chair Gladys Brehtman with support from multiple committee members and volunteers.

Garden Club Visitors Tour Bristol Gardens on Wednesday

Two hundred members and guests of the Rhode Island Federation of Garden Clubs toured Bristol visiting the gardens of Mrs C B Rockwell Jr and Mrs R F Haffenreffer Jr and the Mount Hope Museum of Indian relics owned by Mr R F Haffenreffer. Refreshments were served at the Mount Hope Camp while reception duties were handled by a team led by Mrs William W Perry and Mrs Haffenreffer with volunteers including Mrs Philp DeWolf and Mrs Stanley E Friswell.
