Puppets stage St George and the Dragon operetta on TV

Kukla Fran and Ollie presented St George and the Dragon at Symphony Hall for a Pops benefit. Possible Bid Switch Seen On Seawall

Bids on repairing the Rockwell Park seawall and rebuilding the Ever Ready fire station ramp drew wide variation. William R. Rego and Sons offered 1480 for the wall and 700 for the ramp while Holmes Brothers bid 675 for the wall and 2395 for the ramp. The council awarded Rego the ramp and Holmes the wall, noting bids totalled 1375 for both items and an April appropriation of 2250 remained.

Kingsmen To Be in Legion Parley

The Kingsmen Bugle and Drum Corps will join the American Legion Department of Rhode Island Convention parade in Providence tomorrow evening. They meet at Scout Hall and depart by bus at 4 45 p m. Sunday rehearsal is omitted. drum section meets at 10 30 a m. Next full rehearsal is Tuesday at 7 p m with season contest and parade schedule announced.

Relief Fund Distributed After Bradford Street Fire

The Bristol Phoenix Fire Relief Fund distributed 753 dollars among victims of the June 8 Bradford Street fire. The relief committee met with each family at the Public Aid office on Hope Street and voiced shock at the extent of the loss. Committee members include Rev. Driftmier, Mrs. Perreira, and Mrs. Diman, with Driftmier representing the Salvation Army. Families thanked friends and schoolmates for clothing and aid, and the committee praised public support.

Bristol town council last night appointed Alfred Nunes as tax collector succeeding Amos Gorham who retires June 30 under an economy merger plan. Nunes earns 400 extra and the town allocates 600 for a clerk and 2500 for fire department costs. The council also named Janet ing to an auxiliary zoning board seat and Robert J. Anderson as parking meter maintenance chief with 2000 annual pay.

Bristol Lions Club Circus Receives Town Council OK

The Bristol Lions Club won Town Council approval to sponsor the Hunt Brothers Circus on July 28. Antonio H. Goulart was elected vice-president of Local 220 URCLPWA CIO at Bristol Mfg Corp in a run-off held yesterday at Lincoln Hall St Elizabeth Street. He defeated Julio Biancuzzo.
