Class Day exercises at Bristol Senior High School begin at 2 pm tomorrow launching a three day Commencement Week for graduates. R I Honor Society pins and certificates are awarded at 2 pm in Andrews Auditorium. Superintendent Edward J Fitzgerald speaks at the class banquet in Colt Auditorium tomorrow night. Dr Carl R Woodward of the University of Rhode Island is guest speaker for Thursday's graduation at 8:15 pm in the gym. Principal John L Burke awards five annual prizes including the Walsh Memorial Medal and Rennselaer Medal. Invocations by Rev John N Sinclair, with the orchestra and The Lost Chord sung. August Arruda delivers welcome. Josephine Anne Squatrini is salutatorian and Cornelia Ann Iannuccillo valedictorian. Vice President George Garvin presents the class gift. Fireworks and tax rate set for Bristol Fourth events
The school committee approved a 700 dollar aerial display at Guiteras Field for the July 4 celebration with safety measures and traffic controls. The Fourth of July committee outlined the schedule and hired the Portuguese Independent Band for 8 to 10 PM. Bristol’s 1952-53 tax rate was set at 306 per 100, rising 28 cents from last year and above the budget estimate by five cents.
