Bristol Merchants to Help Fund 4th of July Celebration
Bristol merchants will be canvassed for donations to support the towns Independence Day observance a three day program may occur if funds permit with a band concert on July 2. The committee reports 536 on hand including a 500 bid from Joseph Vendetta of Cranston for carnival rights. Submarine R 10 assigned for the celebration period and detachment from Naval Training Station Fort Adams will participate.

The committee announced a street parade for Sunday July 16 at 145 am after church services to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Mt Carmel. It will feature most Italo American organizations with the Loggia Santa Maria Maddalena as HQ on State street. The Silver Lake Band will provide music for the three day celebration. The music committee is led by Michael Turtillo and the next meeting is Wednesday evening in Parish Hall on Congregational street.

Railroad Ties Will Be Kindled Night Before Fourth
Three hundred ties two cartloads will fuel Bristol's annual bonfire the night before the Fourth on Bristol Common. George T. Ingram directs the event with help from Richard Connery and highway department workers. The ties are donated by the New York Hartford and Hartford Railroad. The bonfire will be lit at midnight on July 3.
