School Committee Sets Plans for Colt Memorial High Principal Search
The School Committee discussed selecting a new Colt Memorial high principal after Perry W Lane’s resignation. Superintendent Hobbs asked candidates back for interviews, a special meeting will decide the choice. Annie D Sisson remains principal of the evening schools.

Fire Station Plans Approved for Defiance Hose Company
The building committee has received sketches and estimates from A J Holmes of Warren for a new fire station and plans to prepare specifications for bidding. The town council committee expects bids by early July and construction to start soon after. Salvatore Della Morte chairs the fire department committee. Arthur H Manchester is secretary of the building committee.

Guiteras Memorial School Robbery Reported
Police investigate a Wednesday night robbery at Guiteras Memorial School. Entry via unlocked window led to forced doors and a safe in the principal's office and desks yielding over $100 in cash. No other items reported missing. some cafeteria food and soda also disturbed.

Feast Day Observance Plans For Mount Carmel Festival
Italian residents in town plan the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel for July 14 to 16. Events include Saturday parade and 8 to 10 pm band concert on the common, Sunday concert, Monday street parade and 10 am mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, plus afternoon baseball and fireworks. Decorations with bunting and lights will adorn the common north side and church front. Colonial Band and Denish Band of Providence are engaged for parade and concerts.

Alta Vista Dance Pavilion Opens at Prudence Island
A new pavilion named Alta Vista has been completed at Prudence Island for Messrs Miller and Palmer and will open for the season on Saturday June 30. The 250 to 300 person capacity dance floor also serves as an auditorium with a large stage. A moving picture booth and electric lighting plant have been installed for added entertainment.

Howe's Daughter Mary Rosalind Graduates At Vassar
Mr and Mrs Wallis E Howe announce their daughter Miss Mary Rosalind Howe graduated from Vassar College last Tuesday. She will wed Rev Philemon S Sturges Jr in St Michael Church on July 21. Sturges was ordained a deacon in Groton Mass by Bishop Flattery. The couple will move to Cove Oregon where he will serve a parish.
