Memorial Ambulance For Bristol In Honor Of LeBaron Colt

Bristol receives a memorial ambulance bought by National India Rubber Company employees in memory of LeBaron Colt who died in an automobile crash on May 8 1916. The vehicle built by White Motor Car Company features special design and equipment and will serve Bristol and nearby Rhode Island towns without charge under a five member committee.

Bristol Doubles Allotment in Liberty Loan Subscriptions

Bristol subscribed 314 650 to the Liberty Loan, more than double its 150 000 allotment. Major subscribers included National India Rubber Company 150 000 and Herreshoff Mig Co 15 000. Local leaders praised Wheelwright and the Bristol Branch staff for rallying donors. Rhode Island reached 24 592 000, Providence city total 20 151 500 aided by eight towns’ contributions via Industrial Trust branches.

Coast Patrol Boats Assigned to Newport Yard

The power yacht Helianthus owned by Capt Nat Herreshoff has been accepted by the Nav Department for coast patrol in the Second District and will be fitted at the Naval Training Station at Newport. The steam yacht Fna owned by Thomas G Bennett of New Haven has been taken to Newport for outfitting with the Coast Patrol.

Y M C A Buys Bonds With Dr Howe Endowment

The Y M C A of the town uses a $5000 bequest from the late Dr H Mo Howe to purchase Liberty Loan Bonds forming the Dr Howe endowment fund. Interest from the fund will support association activities and is approved by local leadership as wise and patriotic.

Bristol to Dedicate 91 Foot Flag Pole on July Fourth

A 91 foot flag pole will be erected on the Bristol common with a 20 by 30 flag raised July 4 in ceremonies led by Bristol citizens. United States Senator LeBaron Colt may speak, and Mrs Edward I Brownell will raise the flag with school children singing the Star Spangled Banner. Total cost about $320, with $281.81 already raised and about $40 more needed.

Bristol Red Cross Auxiliary Fund for C port Bags

The Bristol Red Cross Auxiliary is raising a special fund to buy items for the C port bags to be given to 19th Co CA members. Donations from Ivy Guild of St Michael's Church and Bristol Improvement Association help, with many individuals contributing sums. Subscriptions due to Treasurer Mrs FE I Brownell by June 23. Phoenix Office houses the subscription paper. The Snuxbury acknowledges donations totaling 263.55, plus contributions from Bristol Chapter DAR and others.
