Republicans Recommend Millemaggi for Town Council Seat

The Republican Town Committee voted to urge the Town Council to appoint Paul Millemaggi a former councilman to fill the vacancy created by Michael Pasquarelli resignation. Council President J Floyd Huestis requested the action, committee chair Dr John R Bernardo stated.

Dr William L Serbst is appointed Chief Marshal for the July 4 parade announced by Chairman James F Meiggs. Governor J Howard McGrath will participate, with plans to march or ride. The Red Cross and Bristol units organize multiple divisions including Motor Corps and Mobile Canteen.

Defense Council approves rationing board expansion in Bristol

The Bristol Defense Council recommends increasing the Bristol Rationing Board from three to seven members to handle rising activity. No names were released. The council also set plans for a flag presentation by Kearney Post 6 American Legion at the Paull House with Commander Rex presiding. Canon Parshley will compile a volunteer list for the State Defense Council.

Blackout Mobilization in Bristol Defense Organizations

During the statewide blackout on Tuesday evening Bristol’s civilian defense mobilized on a large scale led by Chief Warden B W Wall. Air raid wardens auxiliary firemen auxiliary police Red Cross motor corps and mobile canteen units first aid groups and other agencies rallied as soon as the warning arrived.

Sergeant Hilario Moniz Promoted From Corp to Sergeant

Hilario B. Moniz formerly a corporal in the Army Air Corps has been promoted to sergeant early this month. He is son of Mr. and Mrs. Alberto B. Moniz of 607 Wood Street and a Colt Memorial School graduate class of 1940. He led the athletic association in high school and starred in football in 1939.
