Members gathered in the Post Home on Franklin Street to map the 27th anniversary observance of Kearney Post No 6 The American Legion The event will be a stag party on Tuesday June 18 with entertainment and social time The post approved a $1000 donation to the celebration fund and voted to participate in the July Fourth parade Nineteen new members including Ida M DiCianni were welcomed The post will attend the Department convention parade in Providence June 22 and a Junior baseball game starts June 16 with Warren post A social hour followed the meeting in the basement of the home

Bristol High graduate Clarence J Smith earns diploma in absentia
Clarence J Smith of Bristol High completed his accelerated course in February and received his Moses Brown diploma in absentia at June graduation exercises. He quarterbacked the undefeated varsity, swam, and sang in the Glee Club before entering the Navy V-5 and reporting to Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
