Raymond Blanchard of the Providence BBB told Rotary Club members that about 200000 dollars were saved in Providence in one year by stopping fraudulent promotions. He described the bureau’s goals to build public confidence and its rapid action against fake schemes, including daily ad checks and on site investigations. He noted current fraud cases, including the Page and Shaw stock matter.

Fire damages Taylor's Shoe Store in Y M C A building
Hilton Levy discovered a small fire at Taylor's Shoe Store on Hope Street. Firefighters from 18th district attacked the blaze with three hose lines causing smoke and water damage to stock. insurance covers losses. Cause unknown though started after hours in a waste paper basket. Former Bristol Fire Dept. Chief John Grabert helped on scene.

The U S Rubber Company will suspend Bristol Rhode Island footwear production on June 27 1931 for an indefinite period affecting about 1500 workers.
