North End Of Prudence Chosen For Laboratory

The U S Bureau of Animal Industry will build the world’s largest animal disease laboratory on Prudence Island, near Bristol. The site, near W R Grace & Co land, will cost 25 to 30 million dollars and employ 300 to 500 people. Project supporters say Bristol-area business would benefit from supplies, housing, and a local wharf.

The Y M C A announces the third annual Sports Award Night on Tuesday June 15 at 7 30 PM with Dick Reynolds as main speaker and Warren Walden as announcer. Weather permitting the YMCA and Cracker League championships will be decided by week’s end. Final playoff games are scheduled daily. YMCA Softball Opens Tonight On Bristol Common

The YMCA Men’s Softball League starts at 6 PM on Bristol Common with last year’s champions led by Andrew Bozzario facing Puniello’s Studios run by Guy Mara bello. The four team league also includes Sal Giglio’s YMCA and Battery C led by Mike Topazio. Friday games feature the latter two teams.
