Town Council Denies Carnival Permit and Grants Tag Day

The Town Council denied a local organization permission to hold a carnival on the common, citing prior refusals due to town welfare concerns. A tag day for the Battery C fundraiser was approved, contingent on July Fourth approval. Also considered were building extensions, a street parade request by Portuguese residents, and various licensing and municipal expenditures.

St Michaels Club Stages Three Act Comedy for Charity

St Michaels Dramatic Club presented James Montgomery’s Nothing But the Truth at St Michaels chapel on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Oliver H Perry directed a capable cast led by FM Ralston Walter Wenner strand and Allen Newman. Proceeds support St Andrews Club and St Andrews School Barrington with candy sales and readings between acts by Misses Rounds Wardwell Munro Foster and others.

The Bristol contest reports 2012 votes tallied by Tuesday evening. Frederick Alger remains first with 1473 votes, Bruce Mathewson rises to second with 1187, and William Dwyer Jr. is third at 1030. Joseph De Palmer slips to fourth as 31 others exceed one vote.

Bristol Chapter D A R to Meet on Monday Afternoon

Bristol Chapter D A R will hold its June meeting at Mrs Edward D Kunz on High Street at 230 o'clock Monday afternoon. Members will hear Continental Congress reports and a Caroline Scott Harrison Memorial talk. Democratic Registration Drive Planned by Town Committee

A focused effort to register voters for the Democratic party was proposed at a Tuesday meeting of the local Democratic town committee held at the Belvedere. Out of town speakers included Luigi De Pasquale, state party chairman, and former senators William G. Troy and Joseph Crowley.

Pageant The March of the Months At Reynolds School

A two performance pageant by pupils of John Post Reynolds School took place in the school auditorium on Wednesday afternoon and last evening. Both shows drew strong attendance and pleased audiences with lively entertainment. Music by the High School Orchestra directed by Miss M Theresa Sullivan accompanied the performances. Proceeds benefit the school library fund.
