Fire Sweeps Three Floor Tenement Endangering 23 People

A fire at 9 West Street forces 23 residents including three children to flee. An oil stove explosion sparked the blaze as Mary Sousa, 24, emptied a two burner container signaling her husband. All escaped without injury. Fire brigades quickly contained the flames. building owned by the estate of Max Makowsky and insured.

Bristol Yacht Club Fire Damages Building and Furniture

A fire at the Bristol Yacht Club late Sunday night caused extensive damage with losses exceeding 400 dollars for new furniture and hundreds more for other items. George R. Fish and VIRB F Head discovered the blaze as they checked sewer sub stations after a storm, prompting police and a general alarm that summoned four fire units. Chief Robert J Anderson led the burn and smoke was confined to a storage area on the first floor though flames crept to the second floor via a partition. A storage locker with paint and gasoline is cited by Col Samuel A Hall as the probable ignition source. the club had just reopened after remodels and much of the new furniture was unwrapped at the time.

Bristol 4th of July to Feature Military Pageant and Naval Presence

Bristol plans a patriotic program centered on military and naval participation. Senator Green and Congressman Forand push for a Newport Naval Station detachment and a battleship or destroyer, with Rhode Island National Guard reviews and World War I veterans involved. Rotary selects William Bottomley Jr for Boy's State program

William Bottomley Jr a Colt Memorial High sophomore and Student Council member has been chosen by the Rotary Club as the key sponsor for the Little Rhody Boy's State at Rhode Island State College from July 8 to July 12.
