Meetings of Fire Companies Set for Memorial Day Observance

Regular monthly meetings of the Hydraulion Engine and Hose Company and King Philip’s held. An invitation to parade on July Fourth accepted, with a memorial service at Dreadnaught Hall and cemetery flowers. Elections of new members, repairs completed, and plans for Rhode Island State Firemen’s League event on July 10 discussed. A prize squirt between Hydraulion and King Philip engines approved in principle. The steam fire engine to receive its regular trial next week.

Rifled Money Box Stolen From Dimond Store

Thieves broke a rear window at Frank M. Dimond’s store in the town center on Hope and State streets and stole 44 in bills. A $72 bill amount and a 388 check were left. the thief took 44 and 328 in bills, leaving no clues. Police were notified. no identification likely.
