Former council president Dr Samuel D. Clark urged wholehearted council backing for the firework ban. He criticized school yard sales and warned lax enforcement could bring accidents. He noted police gains depend on full support and called the prohibition sound.
Bristol officials faced a bonfire and fireworks location dilemma for Independence Day with the Mt Hope town shed area chosen as a last resort after rejection of the veterans memorial park and other land. The Fourth of July committee seeks use of the cinder track at the field pending school approval. The council grants bargaining power to vendors and plans to bring the town fire tub back from New Bedford for the celebration.
Fire Chief Norman J. Servant urged volunteers to man the hand tub Defiance at 6 o clock tonight at the Defiance station. He stressed the need for many men to pump Defiance before the muster on the 21st at Newbury, Mass. Six hand tubs, including the King Phillip tub now owned by Bath organization, are entered in the Fourth muster per Luke H. White.

Kearney Post No 5 American Legion meets at the Post Home on Franklin Street at 8 pm. Plans for the Flag Day observance on June 14 and the Fourth of July parade are set, with appointive officers announced. Arrangements for the Department Convention in Westerly Rhode Island June 19 to 21 are discussed.
Four Bristol volunteer fire companies prepare for Sunday Fireman Memorial observance. Graves of fallen firefighters will be decorated in town cemeteries. Plans were finalized at Wednesday meetings with Councilman Fred Guevremont and the fire engineers, led by Fire Chief Norman Servant, set to participate in the Ever Ready company program. The parade will be led by the Kingsmen Drum and Bugle Corps.

Captain Paul Herzig upheld a limit of 30 licenses as protection for existing holders, while John Marshall argued Perry has rights despite protests. Protesters claimed ownership but were shown to hold only a minority area within 200 feet.
Bristol prepares for the Red Cross Bloodmobile visit next Thursday with 150 donor slots.
