Town Council Gives Deferred Harbor Master Appointment and Budget Grants
The Town Council met Tuesday evening in the Council Chamber with the fall board present. The harbor master appointment was deferred to a future meeting while the town treasurer George A. Peck was authorized to hire 20000 for current expenses. Officials approved concrete work for local organizations and utilities, discussed street lights on Sonin avenue, a tree removal on Wood street, and coordination with Narragansett Electric on dead trees. Protests over peddlers on the Common led to a rule mandating sales on the State street side, and nuisance and license items were addressed. Various town staffing, road, and wharf maintenance actions were authorized, with several bills approved. The council adjourned near midnight, coinciding with the town clock stopping at that moment.
