Fourteen Bands Signed For Fourth Of July Parade

Fourteen bands have contracted to date to march in the Fourth of July parade at a cost of $1,765. The Attleboro Concert Band Worcester Kittie Band St Anthony s Band Natick Columbus Mass West Warwick Independent Band Trinity Lodge of Elks of Newport Eugene Perry Post Providence Portuguese Independent Band Kingsmen 88th Army Band Bristol High School and 2nd 155 Mm Howitzer Bn Band are among the entrants. Bonfire site reconsideration eyed with beach option favored. a new meeting planned. Applications for Miss Fourth of July and soap box derby open at Ferris Dry Goods Evans and YMC. Funds raised total $241. vendors rights bid to Paul Stanzione for $875 accepted. Penny strips distributed to merchants for donations.

Send-off of the Spar at Bristol Depot noted

Word from Lt. Charles J. Albanese executive officer of the Spar arrived from Kingston Jamaica. He said the crew talked about the send-off all the way to Jamaica. A two-picture Navy Times story on the Spar send-off at Bristol Depot appeared on June 1.

As of noon today eighteen candidates had filed for the charter commission at the town clerk's office per Anthony J Dennas Jr. Most meet the signature requirement or exceed it. Filing deadline is this afternoon at 4. The board of canvassers will meet for final voter list checks and to certify filings. Dr Horwood 41 Years At MIT Prominent Health Surveyor

Italian press chief to visit Bristol on US tour

The top civil service press official of Italy, Gaetano Napolitano, will spend four days in Bristol from Wednesday June 12 to Sunday June 16 as part of a US tour. He arrives after stops in Washington and Los Angeles and will meet Lions Club members, tour Phoenix plant, and visit local sites and media facilities.

Bristol Senior High seniors urged to persevere at banquet

Bristol Senior High School seniors were urged to persevere and continue learning by Edward J Fitzgerald superintendent of schools at the class banquet in Colt Auditorium. He said they are forerunners of a growing adult population and will face more demanding colleges and business world. Senior week resumes with class day at Andrews Gym at 1 15 pm and Rhode Island Honor Society to be announced along with the Evelin C Bache award. Graduation is Thursday at 8 15 pm in Andrews Gym with Rev Albert E Hutchison as principal speaker.

Dr Horwood presents health survey plan for Bristol town
