Bristol contemplates a new Andrews Memorial High School funded by a $105,000 federal grant, plus nearly $130,000 from the donor, totaling about $235,000. plans call for a three story Colonial building to house vocational training and town offices, with site choices tied to Trinity Church property and possible use of Byfield or other buildings later.

Reba Lodge to Conduct Memorial Service June 17

Departed members of Reba Rebekah Lodge IOOF will be memorialized at a service to be conducted by the organization on June 17 in Odd Fellows Hall High Street. Bristol County Past Noble Grand Association members will attend with a committee led by Maybelle Remieres Mabel Dunbar Nora Remieres Dora Hasbrouck Ella Miller Archie Miller Walter Remieres and William H Remperes. A rummage sale is planned by Reba Tadge on June 11 in the Paul block State Street.

Bristol-Colt Alumni Ball Tickets On Sale At Casino

Tickets are on sale for the annual Bristol Colt Alumni Association ball to be held June 18 at the Bristol Casino. Reservations are handled by Miss Genevieve Pagnano. A meeting of the general arrangements committee will discuss orchestra selection and other details next Wednesday night in the Colt Auditorium, chaired by William Gueyremont.

Princess Elena Lodge to Initiate Record Class

Contributions totaling 22855 from Plant J Collins and Aik man Corp were received by Miss Annie M Tobin head of the Bristol Women's Field Arms for the Control of Cancer. Don the Polar Husky Leads Bristol Dog Show Exhibit

Labrador Huskie Don, a lead dog from Admiral Byrd’s Little America expedition, will appear at 3 pm at the Girl Scout Dog Show sponsored by Bristol Girl Scouts. Don’s past includes inoculation to manage temperature, with judging to begin at 2 pm and ribbons awarded in all classes. Admission is free to scouts in uniform and refreshments will be sold by Scout troops.

Chief Ferrara Announces Police Vacation Schedule

Chief Ferrara yesterday announced vacation periods for seven local police members. Patrolman Michael Bullock begins now and returns June 12, followed by Officer Sviven starting June 13. Capt William Baker Jr, Sgt Eudd J Demars, Sgt William T Cashin, Patrolman Frederick W Serbst, and Chief Ferrara have staggered dates, with several returning in late June to September.

Pageant to Celebrate July Fourth at Reynolds School

A pageant titled The Signing of the Declaration at Independence will be staged Sunday July 4 on the Reynolds school front. Miss Mary F Spooner chairs the Fourth of July celebration committee and says local patriotic groups and Colt Memorial High School students will participate. The July 5 parade bugle and drum contest Boy Scout jamboree baseball game and a vaudeville show by a Providence WPA group are planned with another committee meeting at Burnside Memorial building.

Bristol Council Praises Governor In Rate Hike Resolution

Bristol Town Council adopted a resolution praising Governor Robert F. Quinn and Frederick A ndang for their aid during a hearing on a proposed rate increase by the New York New Haven and Hartford Railroad on the Providence Bristol line. Copies will go to the Governor and Mr Young. Cornel to Town Sphcitor Hammill also praised for helping prevent higher fares and reduced tram service.

Akin Accepts Position With DuPont Laboratories

Russell Akin, son of Mrs William R Akin of 56 Union Street, earned his PhD from Columbia University on Tuesday and will join DuPont Research Laboratories in Arlington New Jersey. A Colt Memorial High School and Brown University graduate, Class of 1933, he earned the Ferguson Fellowship in Chemistry twice and is a member of the National Science and National Chemical honor societies and the American Chemical Association.

Holy Name Society Concert Draws Hundreds at Mt Carmel High

Council Probes Sewer Plant After Odor Complaints

The Town Council last Wednesday criticized the sewerage plant amid persistent odors.
