Ten years in state prison for town resident
James Coyle of this town was sentenced to ten years in the state prison for robbing Marmaduke Mason at Mason’s home on the night of December 5, 1909. He was found guilty by a jury on April 1 and the sentence was pronounced by Judge Baker after deliberation with Judge Brown. Mason, 93, later became insane, with the Attorney General saying Mason’s death was indirectly caused by the assault.

Warren Man Held Up By Two Highwaymen
Joseph Simmons a Warren area teamster for John D Peck hay and grain dealer was halted Wednesday at 7 pm near MS Barneys ville by two highwaymen. A colored man and a white man searched him stole about 100 dollars he had in a dinner pail and grain sacks. Simmons escaped injury aside from a black eye and warned not to look back. Police pursued but the robbers remained at large last night.

A cruising launch built for M. T. Vincent of New Bedford was launched yesterday at the north boat shop. 88 feet long with 8 feet beam, oak frame, pine planking, cypress and mahogany interior, white exterior, powered by an 80-45 hp Sterling engine. Designer William H. Ward of New Bedford also designed a 40 foot sister craft to be launched around July 1 for Mr. Almy of Benton with a 65 hp Sterling motor.
