Equitable challenge to mortgagee sale in Pawtucket case
The suit filed in the Appellate Court by Providence attorneys and Bristol claimants seeks to set aside a mortgagee sale. They allege John J McLaughlin’s estate, valued at about 200 dollars, was mismanaged, taxes unpaid, and the property on Broadway Pawtucket was sold by the Pawtucket Institution for Savings to McAlevy and Connelly for 1200 dollars. The complaint contends the buyers acted in concert with McLaughlin’s heirs and that a new mortgage for the sale amount was recorded.
