Fireman Falls From Everready Truck Last Night

Manuel Castro a 30 year old volunteer fireman from 76 Bay View avenue fell from a fire truck en route to brushland fire near Fatima Drive. He suffered a fracture of the left shoulder after rolling against a moving nearby auto driven by Henry DeCosta. Castro was treated at Truesdale Hospital and released home after care funded by the State Firemen relief fund and town insurance.

4th Fund Drive This Sunday Has 200 Workers

About 200 workers and captains will canvass Bristol on Sunday from 1 to 6 pm for the Fourth of July celebration. Canon Larned Dies in Providence

Canon Albert C. Larned an Episcopal priest for 50 years died at Providence Hospital after a brief illness. A WWI veteran and author, he was 73 in his 74th year and serving as honorary assistant at St Michael's Church. He lived on Griswold Avenue and was born in Providence April 4 1883.

Bristol High Plans Early Senior Week Activities

The 1956 Bristol Senior High Class announces a senior week from June 5 to 8 with events beginning Tuesday night in Colt Auditorium. Edward J. Fitzgerald will speak at the senior banquet, Class Day includes reading of history and prophecy, and Rhode Island Honor Society members will be announced. John Roth of Brown University will deliver the principal address at graduation Thursday night in Andrews Gym. Diploma presentations, valedictorian and salutatorian awards, and gifts from the class will be noted, with musical programs directed by Mrs. M Theresa Donovan and the junior-senior band led by Albert R. Dalton. A class group photo Friday at 10:15 a.m. precedes a senior reception at 8:30 p.m. in Colt Auditorium.

Highway Dept Sees Delayed Cleanup Push Slowed by Weather

Highway Surveyor Reynolds Northup said the street and park cleanup is underway but weather and equipment breakdowns slowed progress. Crews are cleaning Wood to Thames and then Wood High and Thames streets, with rockwell Park and Church street park work started and grass cutting plus bench repairs ongoing. Roads like Peck avenue Surf Drive Ansonia avenue Wheeler avenue Cole avenue are being prepared or filled, with ice damage patches. Calendar rubbish pickup cards will be distributed by June 15, as the department handles multiple demands amid a catch-all motto of calling the highway department when no one else can.
