James Almeida a 14 year old of Low Lane was saved from drowning at Town Beach around 2 pm by lifeguard Gerard Hebert and the Bristol Rescue Squad. After being unconscious he received artificial respiration and was rushed to Dr Antonio D'Angelo for evaluation before transfer to Truesdale Hospital Fall River in good condition.

White Rail Robbery Arraignments In Bristol Fall River
One Bristol and three Fall River men faced arraignment at a Fifth District Court session for the $1,000 liquor and item theft at the White Rail Restaurant on Metacom Ave. Accused accessories after the fact were John Geenwich and Daniel Horan. Others charged with breaking and entering were Oscar Marcel and Vance Thompson. Police continued the probe, recovered 152 liquor bottles, paint, and edibles with Howard Johnson labels, and swept sewers with Bristol help to find a pistol.

Car rolls from ramp at State Stock slip
Early morning accident at the ramp of the State Stock left a car submerged in the slip with no one inside. Rescue efforts by the Bristol Rescue Squad and a tow truck recovered the vehicle. Driver Louis F. Savastano reported parking in front of Long Horn Cafe at 3 15 am and it was seen there until 4 am. The car is listed to Mrs Carol Marie Savastano of 259 Wood St.

Young Girl Rescued After Tube Incident At Cedarcrest Shores
Mercy Francis 12 of Fatima Drive nearly drowned when she slipped from an inner tube off Cedarcrest Shores on Tuesday. Rescued by neighbor Mrs Herbert Walker who swam out, steadied the tube, and towed the girl to shore after she swallowed water and struggled in deep water. The savior said she thanked God for being there and noted it was her first trip to the beach this year.
