Bristol Drum Corps Contest Sets Aug. 6 at Guiteras Field
The Bristol public school repair bids were awarded with Raymond Construction Co. getting the masonry work for Andrews Colt Memorial Oliver and Valley schools at 556.00. Painting bids went to George S Sparks at 1569.00. The event features 67 corps from Massachusetts Connecticut and Rhode Island competing in a Rhode Island Fifers and Drummers sanctioned drum corps competition. Registration begins at noon with parade on Franklin Street at 2 p.m. and field contests starting 3 p.m.

Bristol Panel Approves Sewer Plan Engineering Contract Proposed
The Bristol Sewer Construction Committee accepted a preliminary contract with Fay Spofford and Thorndike for the town’s 500000 sewer project pending approval by Town Solicitor Eugene Cochran. The agreement covers 4.3 percent of construction costs for general work and 6.7 percent for pumping stations and treatment plant with estimated fees totaling around 53603. The plan aims to have bids advertised this winter and start construction next spring.
