Recreation Special Events at Local Playgrounds
A series of community events includes a Monday Checker Tournament with ribbons for senior and junior winners at each playground. Wednesday Columban Outing features carnival games a cookout a treasure hunt and a talent show with 9 30 am to 4 pm return and bring lunch. Thursday Water Safety demonstration at 2 pm at Town Beach followed by a Friday Water Carnival with ribbons for all winners.

Hydraulion Engine and Hose Company 130th Birthday
The Hydraulion Fire Company No. 1 marks 130 years with 60 active members and 9 with 25 years, under Captain George Correia. Chief Edward Borges is a Hydraulion member as well. The group has answered 98 still alarms and 23 general alarms in 1973 and won first place in the 4th of July water battle. The birthday celebration followed the 130th annual banquet in January, with plans to serve Bristol in years ahead.

Doll Carriage Parade Added To Bristol Awards Night
The Bristol Recreation Board says the annual Doll Carriage Parade will be part of Awards Night on Wednesday August 15. Children should report to the north side of Byfield School at 6 pm to enter their carriage and participate in the parade that evening.
