A roundup of local notes from Bristol recalling events 15 and 25 years past. The town sought bank negotiations for a $5000 loan to cover sewer bills, property sales to religious orders, births, weddings, bridge inspections, and civic projects.
The Chamber of Commerce will ask Joseph A Murgo to discuss public parking lots at the next meeting. The topic arose after last night’s YMCA meeting. The chamber also started a credit information exchange to curb delinquent accounts in local retail stores. A nominating committee led by August E Gibbemeyer was elected to present a slate in September. members include Charles Finger Raymond Gasper Nathan Eisenstadt and Sol Raiman. Town information leaflets produced in 1956 are available at the Phoenix Office.
At last night’s council meeting the town was asked to pay Stephen Castigliego $1250 for an injury claim. He alleges ten weeks of lost work at $100 weekly plus $250 in medical bills after a defect in a sidewalk and protruding drain pipe near Wood and Bradford Streets. The town solicitor has the claim under study.
