Ever Ready Fire Co. takes first-half title with 6 2 win
Hut Correira spun a sharp six to two victory for Bill Bottomley’s Ever Ready Fire Co. over Chappie Oliver’s Defiance Hose Co. in a twilight league playoff. Correira fanned eight and allowed four hits, aided by key plays from Buddy Congdon and Leon Lemaire. Mansi homered for Defiance, but failed to stop the rally as Ever Ready built a three-run sixth inning and added two more in the seventh. Attendance reached 1800 as the crowd watched a defensive gem from Congdon and LeClerc sealing the win.
