Cadet Training Ships Cruise for Practical Sea Training
Rear Admiral Frank A. Leamy to oversee Cadet Practice Squadron comprising the Eagle, Yakutat, and related vessels. About 375 cadets sail from New London and Norfolk for seamanship, gunnery, engineering, and navigation training with upper and lower classes splitting time between ships and cutters. Third class cadets gain first sea experience aboard a non-rated crew. Departing June 10, routes include Middle Atlantic to Europe for targeted shipboard practice.
