Fourth of July Committee Faces Deficit, Estimates Show
Alfred R. Rego, chair of the finance subcommittee, estimates a deficit of 300 to 400 dollars for the Fourth of July group. Expenditures exceed receipts with about 5,800 spent and 5,400 taken in. Major costs include 2,000 for bands and 900 for fireworks with additional sums for vaudeville and military group support. A final complete accounting will be presented at the July 24 meeting when treasurer John Partington returns from reserve duty. Donors helping alleviate the shortfall include Brito Construction Co Inc, Harleigh V. S. Tingley, Riley Ellette Lamson, Amos S. Gorham, and Mrs. Frank Pardee Jr.

Bristol group claims eight standards for amateur rocket clubs
Wilfred Tetreault of the Rhode Island Rocket Society Bristol chapter says eight Defense Department standards exist for amateur rocket and missile groups. Groups meeting them could gain armed forces cooperation, including missile range visits such as Cape Canaveral, Florida. Tetreault reports the Bristol group meets all eight, after contacting the department last February to seek aid for studying rocket and missile performance. The eight points include film presentations, instructional materials, and demonstrations with exhibits and tours of military production.

30 Men Inducted At Mt Hope Nike Site
At approximately 11 o'clock this morning about 30 men were inducted into the Army at the 739th AAA Missile Battalion based at Mt Hope. Col William J Lynch commanded the ceremony as inducting officer, continuing the Stay near home and still serve program.
