Italian Feast Marks Our Lady of Mount Carmel Celebration
The Italian community observed the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel with morning bombs and a full day of events. The Colonial Band led a parade and concert on the common from 8 to 10 30 pm, followed by masses, a procession, and a ball game. Multiple bands, societies, and committees participated, with decorations lighting Wood and State streets and a prize contest at 10 30 pm on the vacant lot off Bas Niew avenue.

Mount Hope Bridge Commission member Callan told a Phoenix representative the project is advancing satisfactorily. Incorporators met banking groups and a New York engineering firm was authorized to draft bridge specifications, with bids to follow in four to six weeks and more announcements expected.

First Real WEAF Wave Pretest Draws 300 Bathgoers
A real heat wave brought about 300 visitors to the community bath house at Burton Street foot of the harbor where instructors George T McDonald and Jain Conners guided the day long sessions. Bathers appeared at other harbor points while playground youths received swimming instruction under John M Scanlon. Theresa Sullivan led girls classes at 11 am and George Robish ran Callan playground boys class at 2 pm.

Thames Street house raided for liquor and stills
A three story dwelling at 228 Thames Street was raided by Chet Raiding Agent Harry Kendall with four Federal officers and Town Police Chief Richard Kavanaugh. Officials seized a large quantity of bear and wine, three stills, mash, and a liquor keg from the Quintal property and a 20 gallon still on the third floor occupied by Rose Ferreira. Both Quintal and Ferreira were ordered to appear before the L o S Commissioner in Providence today.

Barn Destroyed by Fire in Local District
Fire department responded to a blaze at 135 Meta com avenue owned by Manuel Raposa in the 39th district. The storaged barn was totally destroyed by unknown origin. Firefighters arrived after flames had grown large, preventing spread to neighboring structures.
